Education:                              Four-year college degree, preferred
Related Experience:             2-4 years’ experience in communications, marketing, administration, or                                                    a related field (nonprofit experience a plus)

Supervision Received:          WACF Executive Director (ED)

Job Summary: The Communications & Outreach Coordinator supports the Foundation's efforts to share its impact, strengthen community relationships, and increase awareness of philanthropic opportunities throughout the region. This role is responsible for coordinating communications, marketing, community engagement, and outreach activities that enhance the Foundation's visibility and deepen connections with donors, nonprofits, professional advisors, community leaders, and residents.

Under the direction of the Executive Director the Coordinator works closely with the foundation staff and collaborates with the CommunityGiving Marketing Team to advance the Foundation's mission through strategic communication and meaningful community engagement. Monitors Foundation online presence each work day.

Job Duties
 
  1. Communications and Storytelling:
    1. Creates and schedules social media content  that highlights the Foundation's impact, donor stories, nonprofit partnerships, scholarship recipients, and community initiatives.
    2. Supports implementation of communication and outreach strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director and CG Marketing Team.
    3. Drafts and edits content for websites, newsletters, press releases, Legacy Stories, and multimedia storytelling.
    4. Identifies and captures stories that demonstrate philanthropy's impact throughout the communities served.
    5. Develops promotional and educational materials that increase awareness of the Foundation's mission, programs, and community leadership role.
    6. Supports newsletter preparation, including content, graphics, layout, and distribution.
    7. Ensures materials follow established brand standards and guidelines across all communication channels.
    8. Tracks communication-related expenses and assists in evaluating the impact and return on investment of communication tools and marketing efforts for the foundation and signature initiatives.
 
  1. Digital Communications and Content Management:
    1. Utilizes, branding, communications, and graphic design tools for the creation and dissemination of materials.
    2. Updates and monitors foundation’s website and social media channels to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging content.
    3. Collaborates with the Executive Director, Database Manager, and CommunityGiving Marketing Team to manage communication lists, audience segmentation, and campaign schedules.
    4. Identifies opportunities to grow digital reach and engagement within the communities served.
 
  1. Event Coordination and Organizational Support:
    1.  Assists with planning and execution of Foundation events, donor gatherings, grant celebrations, scholarship recognition activities, and community engagement opportunities.
    2. Coordinates event logistics, registrations, promotional materials, hospitality, and on-site support including community use of Foundation spaces.
    3. Maintains accurate records and supports data entry related to communications, outreach, events, and stakeholder engagement activities.
    4. Assists with preparation of presentations, reports, meeting materials, and community-facing documents.
    5. Tracks timelines and communications related to outreach campaigns, events, and special projects.
    6. Provides administrative and coordination support for grantmaking, scholarships, and Foundation initiatives.
    7. Provides general administrative support necessary to advance Foundation programs and community engagement efforts, including acting as a point of contact for general inquiries with professional and timely customer service.
 
  1. Other Duties:
Performs other duties as required through the policies and procedures of CommunityGiving and the Foundation.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired
 
  1. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  2. Proficiency in graphic design and content creation tools with a desired preference for both photography and video editing experience.
  3. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and digital communication platforms.
  4. Ability to track expenses, monitor budgets, analyze communication metrics, and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and community engagement investments.
  5. Strong organizational and project coordination skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  6. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  7. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate systems and records.
  8. Understanding of marketing, audience engagement, and community-focused communications
  9. Ability to understand the communities we serve.
  10. Able to work autonomously and to function in a team relationship.
